What is it about?

A simple method is proposed for measuring the thickness of the rigid porous medium via acoustic waves reflected in the regime of very low frequencies.

Why is it important?

The advantage of the proposed method is that the measured thicknesses are much greater because the acoustic waves in the regime of the very low frequencies are more penetrating in the medium than the ultrasonic waves.

Perspectives

According to this principle, it is possible to construct thickness measuring devices that make it possible to measure significant thicknesses compared to measurements made by ultrasonic devices.
