Why is it important?

Study examined 192 sound meter apps on the iOS and Android platforms and found only 4 iOS apps that met a pre-defined criteria (mean difference of 2 decibels from a reference). Study also identified issues with Android-based apps. The study is important for potential for using smartphone to crowdsource noise data.
