What is it about?
Other sounds can impede speech sounds, yet our brain typically has no problem repairing the broken messages. In individuals who lost their hearing but had it returned with bionic auditory prostheses called cochlear implants, we found that these repair abilities work worse than previously expected, even when we gave people additional context to help them.
