What is it about?

The holography allows reconstructing transparent object with one shot and without the use of colorants, however, it requires high stability and complex setup. In-line holography is more robust and requires less complex setup, but the recovered object is mixed with a lot of noise. We present an algorithm for calculating an initial approximation of the object that it is improved with an iterative algorithm in few steps recovering the object with high quality.

Why is it important?

The iterative algorithm is used for noise elimination, but if there is a lot of noise the algorithm takes many iterations to get a good result. If the initial solution is close to the optimal solution, the number of iteration is reduced and the quality of the result increases considerably. We propose using a pupil to help to calculate a better initial solution. This method avoids that the algorithm fell in a local minimum and the noise is removed from the final result quickly.

Perspectives

The method is simple and could be easily implemented, it is a good option for recovering the phase of transparent objects with few optical elements.
