What is it about?

An axially non-uniform tapered As2S3 planar waveguide has been designed to enhance supercontinuum in the mid-IR. The dispersion profile is varying along the propagation distance. This scheme significantly broadens the generated continuum, extending from ~1 μm to ~7 μm.

Supercontinuum extending to 7 μm is realized in a planar waveguide. This on-chip broadband SC source may be important for certain applications in integrated optical system.
