Silicon plasmonic sensor based on interference effect

What is it about?

This design is used to sense liquids by having a phase shift between the sensing arm and the reference arm. This design is characterized by its high sensitivity, its CMOS compatibility and also small size.

Why is it important?

We propose a new plasmonic MZI that solves many of the problems in the previously proposed sensors like their large feature size for photonic based sensors or low sensitivity for plasmonic sensor. We also propose a design that can be integrated with electronic chips which can further be used in having a lab-on-chip applications.
