What is it about?
The article describes the particularities of Raman scattering in zincblende and wurtzite materials and particularly in nanowires, where the role of surface optical phonons are analyzed.
Why is it important?
It corrects a very important mistake that has given confusing conclusions in many papers in the past. It is related to the role of surface optical phonons. In nanowires we can use a simple approximation. The article clarifies that the measurement of Raman in nanowires of a given diameter cannot give us information about the wave number.
