What is it about?
The Goldberg Anxiety and Depression Scale (EAD-G in Spanish) is a short interview. It can be used to identify patients with anxiety and depression. As it is easy to apply and answer, it has become very popular and it is used in many countries in different clinical contexts. Our study had as objective to obtain information for the Cuban population about the predictive validity of the EADG for detecting people with psychopathologic dysfunctions, as well as to differentiate anxiety and depression. It was found that the EADG showed an appropriate predictive value to identify people with psychopathologic dysfunctions, and difficulties to distinguish dysfunctions of anxiety and depression. Results also support the evaluative strategy recommended by the authors of applying the screening items firstly.

Why is it important?
We consider that this research helps to clinicians to use better the EADG in their quotidian work. For this reason, this article was published in Spanish, but we believe that it will be useful for all researchers interested in this test and in the problems and methods to the validity.
Perspectives
We would like to share with other researchers about the passionate, but the very difficult theme of the validity tests that were developed in other countries.
