Emergence and control of Heracleum sosnowskyi

What is it about?

In this work we were searching for the best method to control sosnowsky hogweed over a long period of time. Among the methods applied (mechanical and chemical) the best turned out the chemical method, where we proved that using glyphosate and flazasulfuron 3 times per year for the next 5 years will provide a succesful control outcome. In areas, where herbidies are prohibited we suggest to cut the roots to a depth of 15 cm with a shovel.

Why is it important?

H. sosnowskyi is a very dangerous invasive weed all over Europe and North America. It is similar to H. mantegazzianum, both of them may be controlled in the same way.
