What is it about?
The Floods Directive is the most important EU Directive regarding the management of flood risk across Europe. His first implementation cycle ends in December 2015, and an analysis of the present situation is necessary to evaluate the effort that water authorities have spent till now, and the necessary steps that have to be taken in the future to tackle the flood risk. A spotted situation is evident, requiring a huge effort to reduce the differences between and within the Member States in the management of flood risk, and posing a big challenge for the future.
