What is it about?
well, in simple terms I'd say it examines how some of the short stories in Xavier Velasco's "El materialismo histérico" realistically represent some of the real life social effects of neoliberalism on Mexican society towards the turn of the 21st century.

Why is it important?
I think it's unique because for one, apparently no one had studied the particular stories in the way I do. Also, the effects I mention above have relevance not just to Mexico but are essentially world-wide in scope according to several theorists on the subject.
Perspectives
Took a long time to research and write!! I hope it can be of use to other academics and students and of course fans of Xavier Velasco! The guy is a literary genius.
