What is it about?
The notion of non-independence splits up into two quite different notions of dependency. One does not have a gut feeling about their properties.

Why is it important?
Students who assume transitivity are wrong. There are baffling examples showing that there is even no link between stochastic dependence and logical dependence.
Perspectives
After writing the companion paper on strange properties of stochastic independence it was logical to explore the even stranger properties of dependence.
