What is it about?

In this manuscript, we aimed to give a critical overview about the contribution of genetic factors to human sports performance.

Why is it important?

While previous review articles have focused on historical aspects of the field and on the functional importance of candidate genes, we discussed some of the questions that have been raised by the study of the influence of such a large and polymorphic genome on elite athletic performance. One of the main objectives of this manuscript is to reinforce the physical education research community about exciting possibilities of incorporating new molecular sequencing technologies, as has been done by others health science fields.
