Why is it important?

Decision making during the procedure

Perspectives

The findings from our study indicate that rapid on site evaluation (ROSE) during MT proved to be accurate in predicting the final diagnosis of malignancy. Moreover, ROSE during MT correlated well with the final histopathological assessment and had a good intermodality agreement between cytologist and histopathologist. Finally, ROSE proved to be more accurate than thoracoscopists’ impression of macroscopic appearance. The present study suggest that ROSE could replace the intraoperative frozen section examination.
