What is it about?

It is acknowledged that nurse training can expose students to specific risk factors. For example, the dual nature of meeting educational and clinical demands of training, working hours and shift work. Resilience can help students limit the effects of stressors. Mindfulness is suggested to be made up of attention to present and an attitude of non-judgment towards the experience.

Why is it important?

A key implication is that learning and practice areas should ensure that well-being, mindfulness and resilience literacy are key issues for students in training. Three established interventions in the literature include the provision of mindfulness, mental health literacy and support with resilience within the curricula.
