What is it about?
This descriptive study was conducted in order to determine care burden of caregivers of chronic psychiatric patients and their levels of coping with stress.

Why is it important?
The family members of people diagnosed with schizophrenia or bipolar disorders suffer severe impairments in terms of emotions, thinking, and behavior. Caregivers of patients experience complex emotions and do not know what to do. Caregivers who follow sudden and devastating changes in their patients experience stressful situations with restlessness, tension, guilt feelings.
Perspectives
Determining the relationship between mental health problems and the emotional, social, physical, and financial burdens of caregivers for chronic mental disease patients helps protect and promote caregivers’ effective coping mechanisms for dealing with their burden and their patients’ mental health condition.
