What is it about?

Due to the presence of many begomoviruses in the field, the recombination among them is becoming highly occur able. Here we have shown the presence of a new species that have constituted from two begomoviruses major parent (Tomato leaf curl Oman virus) and minor parent (Croton yellow vein virus). This virus was named Tomato leaf curl Barka virus. The results were shown clearly by using phylogenetic analysis and recombination detection program.

Why is it important?

Our findings show that the recombination can be common in the future especially when different strains present together in the same field. This can result in forming severe strain which can have a wide an epidemic to many plant varieties.
