Why is it important?
We use political claims analysis to compare across countries and over time 9000 claims published by the most important European media. All claims are related to the crisis, austerity, or recession. We use an original dataset from the LIVEWHAT project and cover all policy areas.
Perspectives
This paper offers a comprehensive picture of who were the main actors and issues that made it through the mainstream media at a very critical time. It shows how the EU is represented nationally vis-a-vis the national cunterparts. In sum, it adds elements to assess the different informational contexts in which European citizens were immersed during the Great Recession.
