What is it about?

An effective and long lasting vaccine would greatly accelerate the control and eventual elimination of malaria. Currently available vaccines are only partially effective,which justifies the continuous search for new vaccine candidates. The antigen termed UB05-09 has been tested and found herein to be a good marker of protective immunity to malaria.We propose that it should be further tested as a potential vaccine candidate.

Why is it important?

The fusion of the antigen UB05-09 from its components UB05 and UB 09 makes it more effective than its components in discriminating between semi immune individuals and those who are frequently sick of malaria.

Perspectives

We plan to carry out more tests to see if the antigen UB05-09 can be developed as a vaccine against malaria.
