What is it about?

Chlorophyll is not the more the better, less chlorophyll absorb less light energy, but use light energy more efficiency. Smaller antenna size is better.

Why is it important?

Smaller antenna size can increase leaf photosynthetic efficiency, and also increase the light penetration to bottom layer of canopy, which can increase the whole canopy photosynthesis. This is a potential new breeding direction.

Perspectives

Optimal chlorophyll and optimal antenna size can increase both photosynthesis and nitrogen use efficiency, which is a new breeding target.
