What is it about?
Social factors, such as identity and relationships with other states, dramatically influence how Australia and New Zealand perceive maritime security concerns. They share the same concerns as many other states in the regions, from the rise of China to small boat incursions, but their reactions to those concerns are clearly shaped by these social factors.
