What is it about?
Motivation and coercion are both powerful tools nursing educators use with students. This article compares the two concepts, motivation and coercion and how each can affect the education experiences of nursing students.

These concepts are important to understand because they can produce students who are uncivil in the workplace and resent their education versus students who are motivated in the workplace and have strong ties with their educators.
Perspectives
I feel that as nurse educators seek to prepare students who will become the next generation of leaders in healthcare, they must understand the impact of motivating behaviors versus coercive behaviors with students.
