What is it about?

The accumulation of the bioactive substance, isoflavone, undergoes a complicated regulation in soybean. We reported for the first time that a dual-function zinc finger transcription factor GmZFP7 contributes to isoflavone accumulation by regulating the expression levels of two gateway enzymes of competing branches of the phenylpropanoid pathway to direct the metabolic flux into isoflavones.
