Drought is increasing in intensity and frequency overtime, yet researchers have a poor idea of how forests, grasslands, and other ecosystems respond after drought and inconsistently define the terms used to describe this period. We outline the ways that researchers define these terms and suggest ways to define these terms consistently across the field.
