What is it about?
Plants experience salt challenges at whole organism, tissue, as well as cellular levels and with respect to their adaptation strategies are divided into salt-tolerant halophytes and salt-sensitive glycophytes. Our study shows that soil salinity is sensed and processed by a single cell type such as the guard cells and differs between a glycophyte and a halophyte as known from the different tolerance levels on the whole plant level.
