The genetics of exapted resistance to two exotic pathogens in pedunculate oak

What is it about?

Exotic pathogens introduced to new areas often cause devastating epidemics due to lack of resistance in naive hosts. Here we show that pedunculate oak displays some resistance to two pathogens of Asian origin introduced in Europe. Two genomic regions, containing putative genes involved in pathogen perception, explain a large part of this resistance.
