Desiccation time during drought is highly predictable across species of Eucalyptus from contrasting climates

What is it about?

Our ability to predict when trees will die during drought remains limited. In this study, we show that a trait-based model (tcrit) aimed at predicting the duration of the final phase of drought, which constitutes the point of stomatal closure to critical thresholds of hydraulic failure, closely corresponds to observed dry-down times in plants of eight species of Eucalyptus.
