Demystifying dominant species

What is it about?

Across most communities there is a pattern of a few highly abundant species, typically called dominant, and many rare species. Here we investigate the concept of dominant species and develop a synthetic definition. A goal of this paper is to encourage a greater focus on the role of dominant species in ecological processes.
