Sequential regiospecific gem -diprenylation of tetrahydroxyxanthone by prenyltransferases from Hypericum sp

What is it about?

Plants produce a multitude of bioactive compounds with great potential as pharmaceuticals. We describe four enzymes, which add prenyl groups to certain aromatic skeletons. The enzymes may be biotechnologically exploited for the production of prenylated substances.
