What is it about?
Every plant affects the soil in which it grows, which can affect the performance of future generations within that soil (plant-soil feedback). Many mechanisms may account for plant-soil feedback, including changes in soil nutrients and microbes. These mechanisms are often studied in isolation, although they are highly interactive and context dependent. We review these dependencies and interactions, and suggest means by which future studies can quantify them.
