What is it about?

A minority of plants have separate sexes, and this study aims to understand factors influencing the evolution of separate sexes in poplar trees. Here we show that the expression of genes reveals differences between male and female trees that were previously overlooked. These results highlight traits that may have been important during the evolution of separate sexes.
