What is it about?

We mapped and cloned a powdery mildew resistance gene from a resistant accession of Triticum urartu, the progenitor species of the A genome of polyploid wheat. This is the first powdery mildew resistance gene molecularly cloned and characterized from T. urartu. The cloning of this new powdery mildew resistance gene will provide a valuable resource for the study of the wheat¬powdery mildew interactions and for wheat breeding programs.
