What is it about?

Plant biomass production is an actual and important challenge in a world with a fast growing human population and limited fertilizer resources such as phosphates. Here we show that the endogenous re-allocation of the plant hormone strigolactone is sufficient to increase plant growth in phosphate-limited soils. We propose strigolactone transport as a new breeding trait for improving plant biomass.
