What is it about?
Arsenic is an important environmental and food-chain toxin. We show that the model plant species Arabidopsis thaliana can be engineered to hyperaccumulate arsenic by expressing the PvACR3 gene combined with knockout of the HAC1 gene. The approach may be exploited for cleaning up of arsenic contaminated soils.
