What is it about?
Large trees respond more strongly to drought in tropical forests. We show that the largest trees are more strongly drought adapted, particularly in drier climates, but even so are more vulnerable to drought. While the largest trees do not necessarily dominate whole-forest live biomass, growth, or mortality under non-drought conditions, their high mortality dominates forest drought responses.
