What is it about?

A rare plant species called cadmium (Cd) hyperaccumulators, such as Sedum plumbizincicola, can extraordinarily accumulate high concentrations of Cd in the aboveground tissues without toxic phenotypes. We show for the first time the in-planta function of heavy metal ATPase 3 (SpHMA3) responsible for Cd detoxification in Cd hyperaccumulator.
