In situ temperature response of photosynthesis of 42 tree and liana species in the canopy of two Panamanian lowland tropical forests with contrasting rainfall regimes

What is it about?

Species-rich tropical forests take up large quantities of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere in a process called photosynthesis, which is sensitive to changes in temperature. We show that the optimum temperature for photosynthesis is very similar for a highly diverse group of 42 species of trees and lianas at two lowland tropical forest sites in Panama, and almost identical to mean noon temperature at these sites.
