Cytosolic invertase contributes to the supply of substrate for cellulose biosynthesis in developing wood

What is it about?

Cellulose is the main component of wood, and biosynthesis of cellulose depends on sucrose metabolism. We show that cytosolic invertase activity has an important role in sucrose cleavage and subsequent cellulose biosynthesis in aspen wood.
