What is it about?
How many people have hypertension in young age? In a lean population factor like Uric acid but not kidney function are involved in determining blood pressure levels. Hypertensive young adults are not aware of their status.

Why is it important?
More than two thousand people 18-21 y.o. an age group seldom studied wad screened. 0.6% were hypertensives and unaware of it. Blood pressure was strikingly higher in males, more than half had blood pressure above optimal. BMI and obesity is not an issue in a lean population as a determinant of blood pressure, Uric acid is far more important. Moreover Uric acid is related to kidney function, but kidney function is not relevant to blood pressure levels
Perspectives
Control of uric acid levels could be important in early stages of adulthood to lessen the risk of subsequent hypertension development, tonic Uric age activation of Renin-Angiotensin system could be involved at young age
