What is it about?

This study describe a new PCR-based method for direct detection of dermatophytes in clinical samples, especially highly contamonated animal scales (direct diagnosis of dermatophytosis) and also direct identifocation of casative dermatophyte species

Why is it important?

Current strategy for identification of dermatoohytes in animal skin scrapings based on culture is failed in many instances due to high percentage of contamination, presence of dead fungal material and etc. While this new method enhance both detection and identification of dermatophytes by specific Pan-dermatophyte primers.
