What is it about?
The maturation of the Glu2, Ile1 and Ala1B tRNAs, embedded in the seven rRNA operons of E. coli, has been investigated. The RNase E independent processing pathway utilizes at least six different enzymes and is distinct from other tRNA processing pathways. RNase III is involved in both the separation of the pre-tRNAs from the 30S rRNA and the shortening the trailer sequences. PAP I is required for the exonucleolytic decay of the RNase III cleavage products.
