What is it about?
Trypanosomes are the causative agents of many unattended diseases. In this work we show that T. brucei, responsible of the African sleeping sickness, requires an amidotransferase for lipoylation of its proteins. We postulate this lipoyl-relay pathway as a promissory target for development of chemotherapies against these important human parasites.
