What is it about?

The capsule of hypervirulent Klebsiella pneumoniae is important for causing severe disease. However, the use of different capsule deletion mutants cause confusion as we found that some mutants have cell envelope stability issues that make interpretations on their contribution to disease difficult. We show that by using the appropriate mutant, capsule is important for causing systemic disease but not intestinal colonization.
