What is it about?

Under zinc limiting growth conditions, many bacteria express a COG0523 family protein postulated to function as a metallochaperone. Here, we provide evidence that the B. subtilis ZagA (formerly YciC) metallochaperone helps to sustain function of the FolE enzyme when zinc levels fall, and this function depends on the alarmone ZTP that accumulates in folate-deficient cells.
