What is it about?

Biotin is a vitamin synthesized by bacteria, but the regulation of its synthesis is poorly understood. Here we implicate a central metabolic enzyme, Pyruvate Carboxylase, in the transcriptional control of biotin biosynthesis in mycobacteria. Our findings suggest that mycobacteria use a metabolic signal to control synthesis of this essential vitamin.
