What is it about?

DnaA functions as both the replication initiator and a transcription factor in virtually all bacteria. We found that DnaA controls expression of a network of genes, some directly and many indirectly. Many of the indirect effects of DnaA on gene expression were mediated by its activation of sda, a regulatory gene that encoded an inhibitor of protein kinases.
