What is it about?
Bacteria use two-component systems to sense environmental stimuli and to transduce these signals into a cellular response. In some cases, activity of these systems can also be modulated from inside the cell through protein-protein interaction. Here we describe how interaction with an accessory protein triggers activation of a two-component system independent of its cognate signal.
