What is it about?
In P. protegens H78, the GacS/GacA two-component system modulates pyoluteorin (Plt) biosynthesis through two distinct pathways: the Gac/Rsm-RsmE traditional regulatory cascade and the RsmA-mediated positive transcriptional regulation. In the GacS/A-RsmXYZ-RsmE cascade, RsmE directly represses translation of the activator gene pltR and structural genes pltAB in the Plt biosynthetic gene cluster. In addition, a positive feedback loop, which exists between RsmA/E and GacS/A-RsmXYZ and involves other potential mediators, is essential for the activation of Plt biosynthesis.
