What is it about?

Probability of retaining fish by a fishing gear

Why is it important?

Knowledge on selectivity of fishing gears helps to regulate fish capture

Perspectives

This study was carried out having mind the horizontal zonation of fish species abundance in reservoir systems. Therefore, the Tono Reservoir was stratified for effective sampling leading to comprehensive results. It was revealed that the dominant gillnets (5 and 7 cm mesh size) used at the reservoir may gradually cause a collapse of the fishery if immediate measures are not taken.
