What is it about?

Speciation in tiny gastropods (Mollusca) species complex (Marshallora sp., Triphoroidea), widly distributed (from southeastern Canada to southern Brazil), using both traditional morphology and molecular descriptors/markers (shell and radular morphology; COI and 16S, mitochondrial, and 28S, nuclear markers).

Why is it important?

Describe hidden biodiversity of marine invertebrates.

Perspectives

Most of small, no "charismatic" marine animals are unknown, and their biodiversity is beeing lost, together with the anthropogenic destruction of the marine environment (pollution, introduction of alien species, for example). Here we described some hidden biodiversity of small gatropods, in the hope of stimulating the appreciation of the richness of marine invertebrate fauna.
